Big climate change can feel overwhelming. But real change often starts locally — with the everyday choices we make, the celebrations we host, and the way we share resources in our communities.

That’s why we’re excited to be developing our circular living project further for Chester and Cheshire West, we hope this will be made possible with help from Cheshire West Spacehive Fund. This fund exists to help community-led ideas grow into practical action that reduces waste, cuts carbon emissions and supports long-term behaviour change.

What we’ll deliver if funding is secured

If our application is successful, the funding will help us build on the momentum of Chester Green Weekend and expand a range of practical, joyful initiatives that make circular living easier for everyone.

Reusable party kits for children and adults
We’ll expand our much-loved children’s eco party kits to include reusable decorations and eco-friendly gift bags — offering families a fun alternative to single-use party bags. We’ll also introduce reusable adult party decoration kits, proving that low-waste celebrations can still look great and feel special.

Two new community refill hubs in 2026
Refill can make it easy to cut single-use plastic from everyday cleaning and laundry products. With this funding, we’ll establish two new refill hubs in the region, creating long-term infrastructure that supports sustainable living well beyond the life of the project. Hub one has only just opened at Hoole Community Centre.

Clothing repair and clothes swap events
Textiles are one of the fastest-growing waste streams. We’ll run accessible repair sessions liking into other groups  clothes swap events to help people extend the life of clothing, save money and keep valuable materials out of landfill and incineration.

Community events, workshops and outreach
Through Chester Green Weekend, hands-on workshops, and engagement with schools and community groups, we’ll share practical skills, gentle climate education and positive stories of change.

Shaped by the community

We want this project to reflect the needs of local people. That’s why we’ll be running a community poll (see below) to help decide where the new refill hubs should be located, ensuring they’re accessible, useful and well-used.

Why this matters

By focusing on reuse, repair and refilling, this project tackles waste at its source. It helps households reduce costs, lowers carbon emissions linked to manufacturing and disposal, and builds a culture of sharing and care for the resources we already have.

Most importantly, it shows that climate action doesn’t have to be complicated, it can be creative, practical and community-led.

How you can help

Supporting our funding project and show Cheshire West Climate Emergency Fund team this project is wanted, projects that turn local ideas into everyday action. You can help by pledging support, voting in our poll, sharing the project and spreading the word about circular living across the region.

Together, we can move away from throwaway culture and build a more resilient, low-waste future for Cheshire West.
