As part of Great Big Green Week, we’re bringing together the Chester Green Festival across two exciting dates in June—and we’d love community groups, individuals and businesses from across Cheshire West to be part of it.

This festival has grown out of a wider collaboration of local green events, and in 2026 we’re keen to bring that shared, Cheshire-wide spirit back—connecting people, ideas, and action. No longer over a weekend and so a new name, no more Chester Green Weekend – hello Chester Green Festival.

đź“… Festival Dates

🟢 Saturday 7th June – Outdoor Festival

📍 Chester Town Hall Square & Exchange Square
A vibrant outdoor event with stalls from traders, charities, and community groups—engaging the public with ideas, activities, and inspiration.

🟢 Saturday 14th June – Ideas & Action Day

📍 Chester Town Hall & Picturehouse Chester
A full day of workshops, talks, a repair café, and hands-on activities focused on practical climate action.

🤝 How you can get involved

We’re inviting individuals, groups and businesses from across Cheshire West to take part in a way that suits you:

  • Run a stall with an activity or information
  • Deliver a workshop (e.g. repair, crafts, practical skills)
  • Give a short talk about your work locally
  • Support themed activities around:
    • Circular living
    • Climate & nature
    • Active travel

✂️ We’re especially looking for…

  • Children’s craft activities
  • Sewing and textile repair
  • Creative reuse ideas (e.g. using recycled materials)

🌍 Why take part?

  • Share what your group is doing
  • Connect with other local organisations
  • Reach new audiences across Cheshire West
  • Be part of a growing movement responding to the climate and nature emergency

This festival is about bringing people together—practically, positively, and locally. Whether you’re an established organisation or a small community group, we’d love to hear from you.

We also have activities with schools in the run up to the event:

Stephen Perry, from Chester Cycling Campaign and behind the first Active Travel Festival,  will be visiting schools who will again be decorating bicycle wheels to promote Active Travel.

Plus a School Activity asking students to create what they think Chester wil look like in 2050. Email us for more information.
