Our last newsletter was the 24th August but it isn’t that we’ve been doing nothing, more that we’ve all been so busy. I couldn’t believe how long it had been when I drafted the new issue. Work is keeping us all busy and so there’s been less time for our volunteering roles with Eco Communities. Plus when I looked back we have actually been doing loads.

I completed my first Sustainable Business Workshop in London on the 4th September thanks to Clara at Zebra Communications for booking us.  See below for more information on this event.

We launched the Cheshire Cup in Winsfordread more.

Taste Cheshire Food and Drink Awards

We were pleased to be asked to support the Green Award at this event. Thanks to Briony and Tori at Taste Cheshire. I took my hubby Rob and it was a fantastic evening. With the Green Award going to GrooBarbs Field Kitchen, we plan to visit them in High Legh. It was also great to see our friend and Plastic Free Champions wining an award, Little Yellow Pig, Hoole.  Plus our new haunt in Chester for our team Spookton Brew Co.

B Local Cheshire

Helen C and Helen T joined lots of Cheshire BCorps at this event at Chester Race course on the 10th October. We keep in touch with the BCorp movement and Helen T is completing the BLab UK course. We touch on the benefits of BCorp status as part of our Sustainable Business Workshops. Fantastic venue in the Zoo.

Dee 106.3 Local Hero Awards

On Thursday 10th October some of the Eco Communities team were proud to attend

the Dee 106.3 Local Hero Awards to watch Helen Tandy receive the ‘Local Hero Eco Award‘. She was nominated for her unwavering commitment to  the Eco Communities’ work to help shape a more sustainable future for Chester. It was wonderful to celebrate and share the important work that Eco Communities is undertaking and we got a big shout for the Cheshire Cup Club. Emily Reid

More on the – Sustainable Business Workshop

Did you find the day worthwhile? Yes: 100% – No: 0%

Surprised at the impact that data and storing has on carbon footprint.

Totally shocked by the carbon footprint values of certain things! Good to discuss with other survey companies what they are and aren’t doing. Felt like we could work on small things that actually have a bigger input than I realised.

It was eye-opening to find out the size of my personal carbon footprint and reflect on the simple things I could be doing to cut it down dramatically. It was also lovely to meet some colleagues from across the survey world!
