Eco Communities, a brand new organisation created by the people behind the Plastic Free Chester campaign and members of Friends of the Earth Chester & District will be hosting a Sustainable Fair in March.
Eco Communities is an organisation set up to support and celebrate the excellent work going on in the region to mitigate climate change and make the area greener and more sustainable.
They are working in collaboration with Chester West & Chester Council to organise the event, the fourth fair of its kind.
The fair will have a variety of activities from stalls selling Zero Waste products, to arts and crafts, as well as exciting workshop and talks.
We will also have two areas dedicated solely to the theme of Sustainable Fashion.
Sustainable fashion is an up and coming movement of people choosing to forego high street and throw away fashion in order to try to foster change to the fashion industry.
Sustainable fashion has multiple facets:
- You can buy your clothes from independent, sustainably sourced sellers.
- Take part in a clothes swap whereby you swap your unwanted clothes for somebody else’s, giving each item a new life.
- Buy second hand clothes, from specific second hand/vintage sellers or from charity shops.
- Take part in slow fashion, buy items of quality that will last a long time and if they ever break or rip, opt to repair, rather than replace them.
The event opens at 11am on Saturday 21st March at Rowton Hall Chester, and will bring together all of the regular stall holders of past events as well as a few new to the event in its Market Place.
